The whole country’s eyeball is now fixed at the tussle between Mumbai Police and Bihar Police on Sushant Singh Rajput’s alleged murder. The death of the actor was announced by the Mumbai Police as suicide on the day of the actor’s death. However, fans across the country soon suspected Bollywood Insiders hand in the death of the actor.
This claim of murder was backed by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and Republic New founder Arnab Goswami. They accused the traditional Bollywood family of playing nepotistic cards and held them responsible for fixing the death of the actor. Meanwhile, the general public demanded CBI’s inquiry into the case owning to the closeness of Mumbai Police and the Bollywood bigshots.
After almost a month of Sushant’s death, his father lodged a formal complaint in Bihar, accusing Rhea Chakrabarty of abetting his son’s suicide. This gave the case a new twist as the Bihar Police was then sent to Maharashtra to do an independent investigation from their end.
This was not taken well by the Mumbai Police and Politicians as they tried to create as many hurdles as possible in the way of Bihar Police’s investigation into the issue. These hurdles include not providing the case file of Sushant’s death, the case file of Sushant’s ex-manager Disa Salian being deleted inadvertently.
Even Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari who arrived in Mumbai to look over the investigation was not spared. BMC issues a 14 days quarantine period notice for the office even though he was on official duty. They have asked the officer to file for an exemption of quarantine officially for further actions.
With people, politicians, and media across the country accusing Mumbai Police of bungling the case, we look into 5 high profile cases that were handled by Mumbai Police in the past and how they panned out.

Salman Khan was found at the scene of the accident and was accused of drunk driving. Salman was escorted by his driver and his bodyguard at the time of the incident.
Even though the case was very clear, Mumbai Police was accused of coming under the influence of the starlet’s family influence. Crime scene evidence was modified or removed and witnesses for the incident were changed or prevented from reaching the courtroom. This case is taken as a prime example of how the law of the country discriminates based on the status and power of the accused.
Even though Salman Khan has been acquitted now, there is a large section of Indian society that still sees him as a villain who used power and money to escape the clutch of the law.
