Amit Shah and Yediyurappa Latest to be tested positive for COVID-19

More than 17 lakh people in India have been affected by COVID-19 and the latest high profile personality to join the list are Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Karnataka CM Yediyurappa.

Amit Shah has been admitted to Medanta hospital, located in Haryana’s Gurugram near Delhi. In a tweet, the minister said his health was “fine” but he was being hospitalized “on the advice of doctors”. He also requested that all those “who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get your inquiry done”.

Mr. Shah, 55, had taken part in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, which was attended by all top ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, defense minister Rajnath Singh, and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman.┬а All safety norms, including social distancing, were followed at the crucial meet, where the National Education Policy was approved.

In a Hindi tweet, Mr. Shah said: “On getting the initial symptoms of coronavirus, I got the test done and the report came back positive. My health is fine, but I am being admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors. I request that all of you who have come in contact with me in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get your inquiry done,”

Meanwhile, Yediyurappa is the second chief minister, after his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan, to be infected with the coronavirus. According to the CMO, the CMтАЩs test results came positive as part of the once a week test for Covid-19 conducted on him, apart from the once in 15 days test on CMO officials, conducted by the health department.
