Sweety Sehrawat’s father, Delhi Police constable Dale Ram Sehrawat died in 2013 in a road accident.  Sweety resigned from her design engineer job to study for IAS and cracked it after 7 years in 2020. She secured an All India Rank of 187 in the UPSC exam.

Speaking to Indian Express, Sweety told “It wasn’t easy because the subjects were new; I had different subjects in school and college. I was studying at an institute in Rajender Nagar but that didn’t help. After my first attempt in 2018, I quit coaching and studied humanities, geography, and world history on my own. Last year, I wasn’t nervous because I knew I would clear the exam. It was only on Tuesday that I was nervous because everyone was asking about the results,”

She was congratulated by Commissioner of Police SN Shrivastava who told her that her father would have been proud of her achievement.

Her mother Kamlesh and Brother Harish were overjoyed and shared their happiness with friends and relatives. Harish is a sub-inspector with the CISF posted with the Delhi Metro.

Sweety’s achievement is an inspiration and a tale of determination as she left a well-paying job to pursue her father’s dream. Her father Dale Ram must be smiling from up in heaven as he looks on her daughter prepare to take on the world.
